Diabetes Health
There is strong clinical evidence that supports that exercise is a highly effective strategy to aid in the management of Type II diabetes.
People who have a diagnosis of diabetes are eligible to participate in group exercise classes subsidised by Medicare.
Our program involves a comprehensive initial assessment followed by eight group exercise sessions supervised by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
Each exercise program is tailored to your specific needs, while being run in a group setting, hence providing a safe, supportive & motivating environment for participants of any exercise background.
Patients with Type 2 Diabetes are eligible to receive Medicare rebates for group allied health services provided by diabetes educators, exercise physiologists and dieticians on a referral from their GP.
These services are in addition to the 5 allied health services available to patients with a Team Care Arrangement each calendar year. Patients being referred for allied health group services do not need to have a Team Care Arrangement service (item 723) in place. This gives the patient 1x 1:1 assessment + an additional 8 group sessions each calendar year which can be used for our Diabetes Health Classes.
To refer patients for these they must have a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes & the GP must put in place one of the following;
- a GP Management Plan – item 721
- for a resident of a residential aged care facility, the GP must have contributed to, or reviewed, a care
- plan prepared by the residential aged care facility – item 731
- a Health Care Home shared care plan

Bones & Balance
Osteoporosis is a condition in which the density & quality of your bones is reduced, which as a result significantly increases your risk of sustaining a fracture.
Unfortunately, this condition is highly prevalent, particularly among older women, & quite often will present no symptoms until the first fracture.
Research has shown that exercise is vitally important in both improving & maintaining optimal bone health, however some exercises are better than others (there are many exercises that can put you at a greater risk of sustaining a fracture).
Our group exercise class provides a safe & supportive environment for you to engage in exercise with a program that has been tailored to your individual needs.
